Braden Chiaramonte Takes on Micro Mania in Texas This Week
For Immediate Release: BRADEN CHIARAMONTE TAKES ON MICRO MANIA IN TEXAS THIS WEEK
(El Cajon, CA, September 20, 2023) One of the USA’s top young open-wheel prospects, Braden Chiaramonte, is headed to Fort Worth, Texas for this week’s $10,000.00 to win “2nd Annual Micro Mania” race. The young star will be one of 82 pre-entered drivers in the POWRi 600cc Non-Wing Outlaw class. Drivers will practice on Wednesday night, September 20th. Split field preliminaries will take place on Thursday and Friday. Chiaramonte will be steering the gorgeous Hyper house car #73B in Friday’s preliminary. Saturday all entries will be in action and they will line up by points accumulated on their respective preliminary nights.
Chiaramonte, 16, comes into this week’s races fresh off being one of the few cars that made all three main events in the Keith Kunz Challenge at the Sweet Springs Motorplex in Missouri two weeks ago. His best finish of the three was a seventh in the 24-car main on the first night.
Chiaramonte, who lives in El Cajon, California, contested the initial Micro Mania in the “Lonestar State” one year ago this weekend. On his preliminary night, he qualified 11th fastest of the 35 cars. In his heat, he was on the way to the transfer when a car spun directly in front of him causing a multi-car tangle that included the young driver. He went to the back for the restart. When the green came back out, the handsome young driver charged through the field and was challenging for a transfer position when a broken sprocket sent him back to the pits.
Instead of going to the A main, Chiaramonte had to go to the D. He Easily won that race by more than a full straightaway. That performance sent him straight into the C main event. That was a 10-lapper, and the young driver started 19th. He had to get to fourth to earn a transfer to the B main. He was putting on a passing clinic and was up to eighth when laps ran out and the checkered flag waved.
Saturday started out as a near carbon copy of Friday as Chiaramonte was again in the D main. He started third, but when the driver starting first switched cars, Chiaramonte inherited the pole. From there he walked away from the field in the 10-lapper to win by nearly a full straightaway. The victory earned him a ticket to the 12-lap C main.
Chiaramonte had his work cut out for him in the C. He started inside row 10 in the 19th spot and had to get to the front in a hurry. To say he put on a another show is an understatement. By the end of the fourth lap, he had passed 10 cars and was up to 9th. One lap later he was up to seventh and was still moving forward. Soon after that, he snatched the final transfer spot and quickly moved up one more position to third. However, a yellow flag seconds later reverted the running order back to the last lap putting Chiaramonte in the fourth, and final, transfer spot. That was where he finished. It put him in the B main event, which was only one transfer away from the A.
After two nights of constantly passing cars, Chiaramonte had gained the attention of the announcers. His performances over the first night and first two races of the finale had him on their radar for the 15-lap B main event. And why not? Going into the B he had passed more cars than any of the other 144 drivers on hand.
In the B, the pleasant teen was starting dead last in the 22nd spot. He had to get to seventh and only had 15 laps to do it. As per usual he immediately began to pass cars and was up to 17th by the end of lap two. However, another driver spun him out in turn four on the fourth circuit. That meant that he once again had to go all the way to the back and try to get to seventh in just 11 laps. To say he put on a show was an understatement as he got all the way up to the 12th spot before the checkered flag ended the race and his weekend.
After his second straight Micro Mania show ends this weekend, Chiaramonte and his team will book it to next week’s “Richest Weekend In Micro Racing,” the Dirt2Media Deuces Wild Shootout, on September 28th, 29th, and 30th at Indiana’s US24 Raceway. For Stock Non-Wing and Winged A Class Micros, the preliminary main events in each class will pay $1,222.22. At the finale on Saturday, each class winner will pocket a cool $12,222.22.
The team will return to the “Golden State” for the annual Cal Cup at the Lemoore Jet Bowl on October 12th, 13th, and 14th. It will turn right around and make the 1,543-mile jaunt to Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway for the finals of the 5th Annual Keith Kunz Giveback Classic on the third weekend in October.
