Braden Chiaramonte Sixth at Silver Dollar Fair Race

PETERSEN MEDIA: Braden Chiaramonte and the Tiner Hirst Enterprise team were back to work over the weekend in Chico, CA as they competed at the Silver Dollar Fair Race where they finished seventh on Friday night and sixth on Saturday night.

 

“It was a good weekend for the team,” Chiaramonte said. “We fought being a little too tight ton Friday but still ran well, and Saturday we were really good, but I just made a late mistake which cost us a few spots.”

 

Hitting the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for his qualifying run at ‘The Fair Race’, Chiaramonte timed the THE/Shield backed No. 94TH in ninth fastest in time trials, which placed him in the second row of his heat race.

 

Starting and finishing fourth in his heat, the El Cajon, CA driver was locked into the feature event as he found himself 11th on the starting grid for the 30-lap feature event.

 

On an extremely slick Silver Dollar Speedway surface that ended up taking rubber in areas, Chiaramonte was able to make his way forward on the tricky conditions. Moving into eighth on the fourth lap, before moving into seventh on the eighth lap.

 

Amidst a tight bunch of cars battling for track position, Chiaramonte was back in 10th just before the race’s halfway point as the pack continued to jockey for and exchange positions.

 

Getting into seventh on the 16th lap, the track really narrowed up and Chiaramonte was able to settle in and close the night out with a Top-10 finish.

 

Back in action on Saturday night for the Fair Race finale, Chiaramonte lined up in the second row of his heat race where he needed to score a win a qualify for the Dash and run inside the Top-4 to lock into the 30-lap feature event.

 

As his heat came to life, Chiaramonte was able to move into second as he chased after Austin Wood. Unable to get into the top spot, Chiaramonte was still in the feature as he rolled off the starting grid from the 10th starting spot.

 

The extremely slick surface on this night was too his liking as he quickly began charging his way forward from his fifth row starting position.

 

Moving into seventh on the seventh lap, Chiaramonte was into the Top-5 one lap later and was getting stronger. Taking over fourth on the 11th lap, the youngster was into third and chasing after the lead duo of Justin Sanders and Shane Golobic at the half way point of the race.

 

Continuing to chase after the two, Chiaramonte got tripped up on the cushion on the 27th lap and gave up a couple of positions as he slipped back to sixth where he ended up finishing.

 

“I just got up over the cushion enough in turn four late in the race where it killed my momentum and I lost a few spots,” Chiaramonte said. “It was definitely a fun Saturday night feature.”
