Braden Chiaramonte Eyes Trophy Cup After Thunderbowl Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Tulare, CA, Braden Chiaramonte got his first ever look at Thunderbowl Raceway as he competed with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during the ‘Trophy Cup Tune Up’.

“It definitely was a tricky place to get used to,” Chiaramonte said. “We timed in okay, and had a little issue in our heat race which forced us into the ‘B’. I really needed to a long green flag run in the semi, but it was still good to get some laps before this week’s Trophy Cup.”

With 36 cars checked in for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s penultimate event, the El Cajon, CA runner timed the Tiner Hirst Ent./HRP/EMI backed No. 94Th in 10th fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, Chiaramonte needed to pick up a spot to earn the automatic transfer into the feature event. Not getting the jump he needed when his heat roared to life, Chiaramonte slipped back to seventh as the field got strung out.

Finishing seventh in his heat, the youngster missed out on a transfer as he was forced into the ‘B’ where he had an opportunity to get more laps on the 1/3 mile oval.

Taking the green flag from the outside of the third row of the semi, Chiaramonte jumped right into fifth. A couple of stoppages saw restarts hinder him as he slipped back to seventh at one point.

Continuing to try and race into the top-four, time simply wasn’t on the youngsters side.

Finishing fifth, Chiaramonte’s night came to an early end but hes looking forward to the chance to return to the track three more times this week.

“I felt like I got more comfortable each time I hit the track,” Chiaramonte said. “You have to be aggressive, and I think it will be crucial to see it again three consecutive nights this week. Thank you to the THE guys for their hard work, and everyone behind the scenes that makes this all possible.”

The Tiner Hirst Enterprise Racing team would like to thank Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Hepfner Racing Products, EMI, Fisher Racing Engines, System 1, Larry Davis Farms, and Slade Shocks for their continued support.
